Panera Bread Company puts an emphasis on the quality and nutritional value of its food. In a study conducted by Health magazine back in 2008, it was called “The healthiest fast casual restaurant in North America.”
Also, the company regularly comes up with a new policy regarding the quality of the meals. For instance, in early 2017, a statement was published that the Panera Bread menu doesn’t comprise any items containing color additives, flavors (other than natural), sweeteners, and preservatives. This was the result of the company’s Food Policy introduced three years earlier, which was aimed at step-by-step elimination of such ingredients.
Taking this into consideration, the fact that Panera Bread prices are considerably higher than the industry average seems quite reasonable.
